Mission Statement

The main purpose for Democracy for Vermont (DFV) is to be a conduit and a hub to channel progressive ideas with the objective of improving the quality of life and political involvement of Vermonters by:

1. Creating a structure for identifying needs.

2. Posting and receiving Statewide political information.

2. Intensifying our quest to find candidates to run in every one of Vermont's districts.

3. Identifying progressive candidates in Vermont, endorsing and supporting those candidates, and suggesting endorsements to Democracy For America (DFA).

4. Supporting DFA endorsed candidates across the country.

5. Coordinating efforts to register new voters.

DFV Steering Committee: As of 2/6/05 consists of 5 members. Major decisions within DFV will be decided by a 75% vote of the steering committee. New steering committee members will be voted in by a 75% vote of the existing steering committee.

Endorsements: Any candidate may apply for a DFV endorsement through a form provided on our website. Candidates will be endorsed based on a 75% vote of the DFV steering committee. A DFV endorsement includes a recomendation for a DFA endorsement.
